A PAMM Managed Fund allows multiple clients to allocate funds to a Fund managed by a Fund Manager. The Fund Manager makes trading decisions for the Fund as a whole, while each client's equity and trading results are calculated according to their participation in the Fund.
How does PAMM trading work?
Funds allocated by participating clients are managed collectively through the Fund. The Fund Manager makes the trading decisions, and gains and losses from the Fund's trading activity are allocated between participants based on their proportion of Fund equity. ACY provides the brokerage and trade execution infrastructure, while Tradingcup provides the technology supporting the Managed Fund.
What is the difference between Managed Funds and Copy Trading?
With Copy Trading, trades from a Signal Provider are copied to your own trading account, where you maintain your own trading positions. With Managed Funds, your funds are allocated to a pooled Fund and the Fund Manager makes trading decisions for the Fund as a whole. Gains and losses are then reflected according to your participation in the Fund. Managed Funds can also include a Performance Fee based on gains above your personal High Water Mark, while Copy Trading may use a subscription fee.
Who makes the trading decisions in a Managed Fund?
The Fund Manager makes the trading decisions, including which instruments to trade, position sizes and when positions are opened or closed. Clients choose the Fund they want to allocate funds to but do not approve individual trades.
What are Commercial Terms?
Commercial Terms are the main settings that apply when you allocate funds to a Managed Fund. They include the Performance Fee, minimum investment, maximum investment and Opt-in Term. These terms are displayed before you confirm your allocation and can vary between Funds. A description of each is listed below.
What is the minimum investment?
The minimum investment is the smallest amount you can allocate to the Fund in a single deposit. The amount is displayed in the Fund's Commercial Terms before you proceed. For example, if the minimum investment is 500 USD, each allocation must meet the applicable minimum.
What is the maximum investment?
The maximum investment is the maximum total principal you can allocate to the Fund. The limit is displayed in the Fund's Commercial Terms and applies to your total principal in the Fund, rather than only your current deposit. For example, if the maximum investment is 1,000,000 USD total principal, your total principal allocated to that Fund cannot exceed this amount.
What is an Opt-in Term?
The Opt-in Term is the minimum period you agree to remain in the Fund before you can request to remove funds. The applicable period is displayed in the Commercial Terms before you confirm your first allocation. For example, if the Opt-in Term is 90 days, you cannot normally request to remove funds until the Opt-in Term has ended. Adding more funds does not restart your existing Opt-in Term. Once the Opt-in Term has ended, you can remove principal; your profit is first settled into principal at the first month-end after the Opt-in Term ends, and can be withdrawn from then. The Term End Date and First Settlement are shown in your local timezone.
Can I lose money in a Managed Fund?
Yes. Managed Funds involve leveraged trading, and your Fund equity can rise or fall based on the Fund's trading results and market conditions. Past performance is not an indication of future performance.
Does Tradingcup choose which Fund I should allocate funds to?
No. You choose which Fund, if any, you want to allocate funds to based on the information available to you.
Does ACY or Tradingcup make the Fund's trading decisions?
No. Trading decisions are made by the Fund Manager. ACY provides the brokerage and trade execution infrastructure, while Tradingcup provides the technology supporting the Managed Fund.
Can I see how my Fund allocation is performing?
Yes. Your Fund page displays information about your participation in the Fund, including your equity and other Fund performance information.
What happens if the Fund loses money?
Losses are reflected in your Fund equity according to your proportional participation in the Fund. If the Fund later recovers, your personal High Water Mark is used when determining whether a Performance Fee becomes payable on subsequent gains.
What is a Performance Fee?
A Performance Fee is a percentage payable to the Fund Manager on applicable new gains above your personal High Water Mark (HWM). The Performance Fee applicable to a Fund is displayed in its Commercial Terms before you allocate funds. For example, if the Performance Fee is 20%, the fee is calculated at 20% of the applicable new gains above your HWM at settlement.
What is a High Water Mark (HWM)?
Your High Water Mark records the previous level used to calculate your Performance Fee. If your Fund equity subsequently falls, it must recover above your previous High Water Mark before another Performance Fee becomes payable. This helps ensure Performance Fees are only calculated on applicable new gains above your previous HWM.
Can I be charged a Performance Fee twice on the same gain?
No. Each client has their own High Water Mark, which means a Performance Fee is only calculated on applicable gains above that client's previous HWM.
When are Performance Fees calculated?
Performance Fees are calculated during the Fund's monthly settlement where applicable. A separate settlement also occurs when you fully exit the Fund.
What happens at the monthly settlement?
At the monthly settlement, each client's Fund performance is calculated based on their participation in the Fund. Where applicable, gains above the client's personal High Water Mark are settled and the Performance Fee is calculated. Open Fund positions do not need to be closed simply because a monthly settlement occurs. Clients whose Opt-in Term has not yet ended are not settled at that month-end: their share of profit and loss accrues as unsettled P&L, and their first settlement takes place at the first month-end after the Opt-in Term ends.
Is a Performance Fee charged when I remove part of my funds?
No. Removing part of your funds does not itself trigger a Performance Fee settlement. Performance Fees are calculated at the applicable monthly settlement or when you fully exit the Fund.
How do I add funds to a PAMM Managed Fund?
Select the Managed Fund, review its Commercial Terms, enter the amount you want to allocate and select the account the funds will come from. For your first allocation, you'll also be asked to review and accept the applicable PAMM terms before confirming. Adding more funds later does not restart your existing Opt-in Term.
What happens if my trading account and the Fund use different currencies?
Each Managed Fund operates in a Fund currency. If your selected trading account uses a different currency, your funds are converted when they are allocated to the Fund. When funds are returned to a trading account with a different currency, they are converted using the applicable exchange rate at the time of the transfer.
How do I withdraw money from a Managed Fund?
Once your Opt-in Term has ended, open your Fund page and select Remove Funds. Enter the amount you want to withdraw, select the destination account and confirm your request. Your request is processed by the platform and does not require approval from the Fund Manager. After a partial withdrawal, your remaining funds continue participating in the Fund.
When can I remove funds from a Managed Fund?
Once your Opt-in Term has ended, Remove Funds requests can be submitted during the available weekly withdrawal window. Tradingcup displays the applicable times in your local timezone and will show when the next window opens if withdrawals are currently unavailable.
What happens when I remove funds?
To release funds, some open trading positions may need to be reduced or closed. The amount that can be released depends on the Fund's open positions, available margin and market conditions when your request is processed.
Is there a minimum withdrawal?
Yes. The minimum partial withdrawal is 50 units of the Fund's base currency. For example, if the Fund's base currency is USD, the minimum partial withdrawal is 50 USD.
Why might I receive less than the amount I requested?
The amount available can be affected by market movements, available margin and whether open positions can be reduced or closed when your request is processed. If the full requested amount cannot be released, the remaining amount stays in the Fund and can be requested again later.
What is the difference between Remove Funds and Exit Fund?
Remove Funds allows you to request part of your funds while continuing to participate in the Fund. Exit Fund requests the closure of your entire participation in the Fund. Any applicable Performance Fee is settled as part of the exit process. If some positions cannot be closed at that time, a remaining amount may stay in the Fund until it can be withdrawn.
